Suicide is death by your own hand. Jesus was executed by the Romans. He just knew what was going to happen.

Would a solider who jumps on a grenade to save others be committing the sin of suicide?
Would a father who struggles and is killed by an intruder so his family can escape committing the sin of suicide?
Is a fireman who gives his life to save a baby from a burning building committing the sin of suicide?

The actions of Jesus, when he gave his life on the cross, was a sacrifice. There were several times during the thing when he could have walked away, but he choose not to walk. He knew that his actions would save thousands who would otherwise perish. His death was not a sin of suicide, but a sacrifice of salvation.

Sucide is wrong Yes, but there are instances in the bible where Godly people killed themselves for the upliftment of God

Samson, was tied up to the pillars when he asked God to return his strength so that he could destroy the Phillistines. He knew he would die. In Hebrews 11:32 we see his faith being mentioned. Even though he indirectly killed himself, he repented and he will be in heaven

Also think about all the martys that have died knowingly because of thier faith for God. Like Steven in Acts for instance and the hundred others throughout history. They will be in Heaven and thier deaths though indirectly suicide were not sin.

So is Suicide a sin? Yes and No. Yes if you are selfish and do it to avoid a personal circumstance, No if you die proclaiming the gospel of God.

Jesus sacrificed himself for the Good of mankind, Iand I thank God that he did so too. Otherwise I would not have been answering your question.

God bless

Ever heard of "suicide by cop"? You don't have to die by your own hand to commit suicide. All you have to do is provoke the authorities in such a way that you are executed, and that is what Jesus did.

It is written that at the last supper, he said, "One of you will betray me." If that is true, then he knew what was coming. He didn't say, "Hey! Whoever is thinking about betraying me, don't, or I will be executed and it will be your fault."

Jesus was a cult leader and he allowed himself to be executed so that he could become a martyr. He had a statement to make, and he knew that statement would carry more weight with him dead than alive. Like all martyrs, he relied upon his followers to blow his death completely out of proportion until the legend obscured the truth. And it worked, obviously.

It's not suicide if someone gives their life to save the life of another person and besides which Jesus was only dead for three days.

You see, when Joseph of Arimathea went to Pontus Pilate to ask for Jesus body and told him that he was going to bury Him in his own brand new family tomb, Pontus thought Joseph was crazy. But Joseph told Pontus, "Hey it's no big deal. He only needs it for the weekend".

Besides all of that, the Bible never calls suicide a sin. There are about 5 people in the Bible like King Saul and his armor bearer, Samson, and of course Judas Iscariot who committed suicide and all the Bible does is record the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

No, it's called love and bravery. When you know that death is eminent and you go ahead anyway; because it's the right thing to do..it's called valor. Or have all the servicemen that jumped on grenades (to save someone else) been guilty of suicide also?

Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Joh 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Jesus' death was necessary for He took on the sins of the world when he hung on the cross.

Jesus was a Jew, as you probably know. The "Day of Atonement" was the day Jewish believer's took a PERFECT animal (without spot or blemish) to the temple to be sacrificed to atone (cover) for their sins.

For sins to be completely washed away, Jesus took the place of the animal sacrifice, took on the sin of the world, shed HIS blood to wash it away, not "atone" for our sins.

No, it was not suicide as you ask. It was obedience to God, and it was His purpose. Jesus never sinned.

Most other people who were crucified had their legs broken while on the cross to rush their death for they actually suffocated while on the cross. They would push themselves up with their feet & legs to get some air, so the soldiers would break their legs.

In order for the profecy to be fulfilled, Jesus body was to be perfect. He died willingly, for us...no need to break His legs.

It isnt something understood with the mind. That is what faith is all about.

Jesus never sinned. Jesus never asked for forgiveness, offered any sacrifice, or confessed to any sin. Jesus Christ was without sin. This is the testimony of the angel Gabriel to Mary as well as the demons. Unbelievers such as those at Jesus’ trial, Herod, Pontius Pilate, Pilate’s wife, the robber that died next to Jesus, and the centurion at Jesus’ crucifixion all testified to His innocence. Believers such as Peter, John, Paul, the early church, and the writer to the Hebrews acknowledged the sinlessness of Jesus. Jesus Himself made it clear that He was without sin. Finally God the Father accepted Jesus as the sinless sacrifice for the sins of the world.

I do not see how he brought about his own death. Jesus knew that if he preached the word of god that was contrary to what was being taught by the corrupt rabbis it would end in his eventual crucifixion. He also knew that he would rise again in three days. If you knew that you would be imprisoned, for whatever reason, unless you ran from the law, if you turned yourself in would that be the same as imprisoning yourself? I say, no.

Honestly, what were you smoking when this question popped up in your head?

ANSWER

Jesus didn't "bring about his own death". He submitted himself for the sake of rescuing man from their own death (sin).

If we took this (for a second) question seriously, that would disclaim all those honorable military men who gave their lives for our nation. That would mean that any parent who gave their life for the sake of their child would have committed suicide. That is stupid. I'm a Christian and Yes - this is a stupid question. No substance - nor depth - whatsoever.

PEASE think your questions through next time. PLEASE.
