I have seen that the workplace usually has a cloakroom, but still people frown when someone hangs his/her jacket on the back of a chair - even when there's no cloakroom in the workplace. Are you ALWAYS supposed to wear your jacket?

A suit jacket (unlike a coat) is an indoor item so, yes, in theory you are supposed to wear it all the time.

But if you can't make yourself wear it, you can get a hook that attaches to your cubicle wall.

I have never heard of that being taken as having poor manners. I've seen many businessmen hang their suit jacket around the back of their chairs.

When you meet a client or go to a meeting you should wear your jacket.

Never heard of this... I would want someone to put their jacket over the back of their chair rather than throwing it on the FLOOR !!

HEHEH, I put my jacket on the back of another guys chair so i could trap his smell on my jacket. I never knew it was impolite to do so.

At least where I'm from that isn't considered bad manners. Then again....I really don't give a crap if some thinks i'm ill mannered so perhaps...i've never noticed that it was :)

I didn't know it was bad manners to do that. I assume it's because it looks messy or clutters the room. Weird.
