A lot of the restaurants that aren't fancy are child friendly. The city is full of children. Just stay away from the 3 and 4 star restaurants.
Take a walk in the park and we do have a small zoo, or you can take a bus to the Bronx Zoo and Botanical Gardens. There is also a botanical gardens in Brooklyn that you can get to by subway.
I don't know if the Museum of Natural History is good for a child that young, but there is a great dinasour exhibit and I think they have some children's exhibits there.
Sorry, I don't have kids, but I'm trying to think of what I have done with my friend's kids.

The zoo in Central Park is perfect for toddlers. My daughter loves the penguin house, the seals, the polar bears, and the rainforest house.
The Museum of Natural Science has dinosaur skeletons, dioramas of different times in history and ecospheres. All kids love this place.
EJs Luncheonette is great for kids. Bubby's in Tribeca also. Many places in the Upper West Side are kid friendly. The Cowgirl Hall of Fame is good. John's Pizza or Two Boots.
We've raised my daughter here and we take her pretty much everywhere. It is rare to be mistreated because we have a child. Just be yourself and go to the kinds of places you like. They'll like your kids too.

Most restaurants are baby/child friendly. We've found that some restaurants don't have high chairs/boosters so we started carrying our own fold up one (they're like $20 at Toys R Us and Babies R Us) in the diaper bag.

Over here in Florida cabs supply vehicle seats. in case you're vacationing by means of cab you may positioned your toddler in a vehicle seat. I did each and all the time when I lived in enormous apple. I had the stroller with the vehicle seat linked to it. autos in manhattanpersistent loopy so take that into attention. take excitement in and function a secure trip.
