The same reason you women are so attracted to us: it represents a handing over of our power and thus succumbing to restraint, and guys are all about freedom, being untamed and independent, in control of our own destinies. When a woman gets tangled up in your life, that gets threatened. When a woman vies for your emotional core, your strength and power that kept you running all this time is threatened to be taken over and control is lost. It's a scary situation for a guy to handle. While love feels good, letting go of something that's always worked for you is pretty scary too.

I have absolutely no idea, some guys think showing emotion is a sign of weakness. I think it shows strength of character. I have been in a relationship for 16 years with the same person and I always express my emotions.

Probably for the same reasons that girls are....they fear rejection. Guys usually risk more, when they show emotion. Rejection is part of that. But also it is because society's view of men showing emotion is that it's often times seen as "feminine" to do so, so they fear being labelled as "sensitive". Yet all normal human beings have emotions. Society just gives women more "permission" to show them without being judged or ridiculed for it. A man who is secure with his own masculinity will not fear (as much) showing his true feelings.

In my opinion, either they have been hurt terribly and don't ever want to feel that way again, or, they enjoy their lifestyle and don't want change it. Living life on their terms only, free to date anyone without remorse and are enjoying their freedom and independence. Hey! I just described myself!..lol..except for the fact I cannot be emotion free.
Relationships are scary things. I know where they are coming from. As long as people don't "play" around with another's feelings, it's all good. :)

We are too concentrated on conquering the world! Girls want all the froo froo but guys are on guard. Girls want to build the nest and fill it with doilies while the guy watches out for threats and possible intrusion. Girls dress up the trees. Guys protect the forest! It's a matter of perspective!

Read some of the bitter, vindictive questions some of these women ask and that should explain it to a tee...nobody wants to take any chances anymore. Everything is taboo, off-limits or dangerous; so the standard response is to sequester one's self behind a computer screen and sacrifice social skills and interaction by living vicariously through others. Very sad...
