France did not want us to go into Iraq for two reasons. The primary reason was that they were making billions of dollars a year from kick-backs from Saddam Hussein for controverting the Oil-for-food restrictions. The next reason is that the French have not been a military power since Napoleon, so for them military action is always a losing proposition.

Because France has too many profitable deals going with Saddam. They had exclusive rights to sell Iraq's oil under the 'oil for food' program; they were illegally selling Saddam weapons; they had loaned Saddam billions of dollars; and they were negotiating for ownership rights for oilfields in the Kurdish region.

France had its own agenda for not going to Iraq. Iraq and France were exchanging billions of dollar in a program called oil for anyone you can sucker. Saddam took the money and put it into his private account and also put some of it into armament. We were after the weapons of mass destruction which does exist however, Saddam was smart and moved it out several weeks before our invasion began. These WMD are now in Syria and the Israeli secret service can tell you where it is located. Syria and Iran are making fools of us and we are not fighting the kind of was that we should have fought since the initial invasion. We weren't tough enough. We aren't tough enough with the Iraqis, Syrians and Iranians at this time. This so-called solution can lead us to a dead wall and we will never get out with a total victory. My attitude? Pull our boys out in June or July and let the Sunnis and Shiites kill one another.

Honestly, the French said that, not because they didn't want us to invade. They knew they were violating the UN sanctions and didn't want to get caught out, which they did. IMHO, we would have done the world better by nuking France and Iraq both.
