Hiya,
I am in the same situation. My gums are starting to recede and my teeth are gapping. I have now been told it is genetic and there is nothing I can do to stop it. I brush my teeth and floss but my dentist has told me I have a maximum of 2 years before I loose them all..... and I'm only 32 aswell!! I totally sympathise with you and I asked the same sort of question on here. I was really surprised to find so many people in the same situation or have lost them younger than me. Now I accept that it's just one of those things and actually I will probably feel better about my appearance when i finally have decent teeth!. I know it's hard, but try not to worry too much. It's not the end of the world to have nice, white, pain free, natural looking teeth.
Take care xx

I have the same problem, I am 55 and it has been going on noticeably since I was 40. I got told the same about brushing but too late. Our mums and dads tell us to brush a lot to keep the teeth in good condition and the dentists say do less to save the gums, can't win either way. The only advice I can give is do have any fillings necessary done on the newly exposed part as it has no enamel, deteriorates faster than the part which should be outside and if neglected can easily get cavities and make you hyper sensitive to hot or cold drinks and to sweet food that sticks, such as chocolate which I know we should not be eatting anyway. If the receding is on one tooth only I did have a friend who had that treat by the dentist cutting the gum each side then pullung it over the exposed part of the tooth and stitching the sides together but I have not had that done personally and anyway my receding is all over.

I have this problem too and was told by my dentist to use toothbrushes with soft bristles, and not to brush too hard on the teeth and gums. I'm not sure whether special toothpastes will help. I've already had one filling done on the part of the tooth where the gum receded. The filling was of the same colour as my tooth so it was not so obvious unless you look close enough. That was the treatment I was given. You should consult your dentist about your condition as soon as you can.

I to have receding gums due to medication
the only answer for me is to see the dentist every 3 months and have a scale and polish by the dentist manually with special cleaning instruments
( think its how they used to clean your teeth years ago)

You need to see a dental hygienist, who will show you the proper way to brush and stop the gums from receding. It can be partially corrected if the pockets are not too deep. She may suggest that you buy a sonic type brush that is low impact. But make an appointment, you do not want your nerves to be exposed.

See a periodontist. If he feels it's necessary, they can do a gum graft and replace some of the gum that's receded. They take a graft from the roof of your mouth and graft it to the area that's receded.

I think you may have a health issue. I would consult a doctor as soon as possible simply to ascertain it is not somehting more problematic. Furthermore, the doctor may be more knowedgeable about how to alleviate it.
