you are definately right and i believe that cats do become attached to their owners just as dogs do they just have different ways of showing it. ive owned 8 dogs and only one cat but since i got my first cat, ive decided to never own a dog again. i used to be a dog person and defend dogs because i had never had the experiance of living with a cat. well now that i own a cat, NO MORE DOGS FOR ME. too much responsibility comes with owning a dog. cats are more intelligent and can take care of theirselves better. they are also more fun to play with in my opinion. i could sit and watch my cat all day and not be bored. she is soo entertaining. while dogs always depend on you to play with them and it gets tiring. and the cats dont jump all over your house guests or chase cars or bark at everything that moves or require as much grooming, time, or money. but they are even more rewarding as a pet. CATS CATS CATS!!!!!!!!!!!

Cats and dogs do so many of the same things, it's really not worth arguing about. Just goes to personal preference. The luckiest people are the ones who have both!
They both poop/puke everywhere if they have an upset tummy.
Cats do it in the litter box which you have to clean. Dogs do it in the yard or while on walks...which you have to clean.
Dogs drag their butts on the carpet, cats do that too.
A big dog can drag it's master from a fire...but a little one can't. Both little dogs and cats are likely to wake their masters up in case of fire in their own ways, jumping on them being vocal...which both can do quite well.
Dogs bark when they hear someone outside. Cats wake their people up at 4am for cuddles.
Dogs can play fetch. Some cats do that too. Some dogs run away with the ball...some cats do that too.
Dogs chase leaves blowing in the wind. Cats chase laser pointers.
They both like to roll around in dirt if given the chance.
Dogs come when called because they want to please their master. Cats come when called because there's a good chance someone has food. It doesn't matter the motive, the end result is the same.

No actually I don’t think cats are at all better than dogs. Both pets have their good qualities and bad, I agree such as cats need very little attention and don’t need baths, dogs on the other hand love and thrive to be around you and just well, LOVE you to bits! Furthermore Cats are highly adaptable and can become feral, whereas dogs cannot survive on their own without the interference of humans. This may signify "weakness," but it also shows just how close the dog-human relationship is. If IN any case the bond between human and dog far exceeds that of human and cat. Part of the reason is that dogs are pack animals and strive in a group. Most cats could care less
Also If you stop to think……. about the entire idea of cats using the litter box its a little gross: you stick the litter box in an obscure, hidden area of your house, but its still in your house, and your cat is, essentially, urinating and excreting in your house. And the waste stays there until the litter box is cleaned, too (not like a toilet, where one can just flush it down). Can you imagine all the odour bacteria eminating from that litter box *shudders* Yuck.
So my opinion rest on the dogs side!
A famous quote; Everyone needs a dog to worship them and a cat to look down on them.
No one owns a cat, a cat owns you.

i think cats are better, for me. dogs are too excitable, & dirty & smelly often. i've had cats i took everywhere with me on a leash, hiking, even swimming! and the cat i have now plays catch, another wants love all the time & walks around on his hind legs, and the other is so well behaved & thinks he's a person--he'll talk to me & even make a grumbly 'mew' after i cough or sneeze, every time!
and none of them "go" anywhere but the litterbox, or scratch anywhere but their scratching post, and they all greet me at the door gently when i come home or get up in the morning.

The mind of it's own is the important part. Dogs are subservient pack animals that feel better and worthy when they are pleasing the "alpha male", you.
Cats are the opposite. They decide on their own when to kill and they do it independently (except for African Lions). They think for themselves and may even think we are strange. But they also like companionship and affection
... and they don't drool, slobber, or bark all the time
i'm a cat person my two are Dusty and Cooper

I agree. I mean dog's are great and cute and everything..but i think that cat's have a different kind of intellegence.
yes they do come to you on their own terms...but that is their individuality. it is so much fun to watch cats and watch them interact with other cats and beings. they really are sweet. i like that they are not completely dependant on you alllll the time..so you can still get things done and not have to feel obliged to constantly be with them. a cat is like a companion, and a dog is like a pet. i like companions, it makes life more interesting

Noooo Way! I have a cat ....... big mistake..... cos.... one night it attacked my $5000 lounge suite, now it is stuffed! My 2 dogs on the other hand are soooo much better. A dog can also be trained to use a certain spot to do its buisness. But, i suppose it depends on the breed of cat or dog that u get too.

I think you are totally nuts!
Cats steal anything left on the kitchen benches as you cannot stop them jumping on things. They kill wildlife and torment it just for the fun of it. They use the furniture as a scratching post and they care more for themselves than their owner.
Dogs are happy to see you no matter what. They can be taught to fetch and go for walks on the leash to keep you company. They are useful creatures who can become guide dogs and police dogs. I'd love to see a cat do that!

hell no, cats only like you when they want something but dogs are your best friend for life. You cant play catch with a cat, you cant take your cat for a run, if fact you cant really take your cat anywhere, you cant teach them cool tricks. Yes dogs are so much better than cats
