I don't know about surrender, but I doubt Iraq will be the utopian society Bush had envisioned. We've already failed at any real hope of turning it around.

That is not the way the war works. The USA has already won the main battle of Iraq. We are now faced with terrorists who won't give up the fight even if they have to die for their cause and then there are the Sunnis fighting the Shiites for power, wealth and control of the government. This battle has been ragging at one time or another in middle east history since it was recorded several thousand years ago. This isn't new. It is merely an extension of Arab hatred for one another because their religion is different. Yet they pray to the same God. Iran is now putting in their two cents and this may develop into a very real horrible war. No more small time street stuff but rather planes, artillery; the full battalion of marines, armor.....all of it.

I don't think we will surrender but I see a withdrawal in a couple of years. We will claim our objectives were made and leave.
The problem we created when we went over there is we disarmed Iraqi's military leaving it defenseless. We didn't want another country to come and annex it. So until we can get it's military up and running, we will stay.

we can't surrender. we have nothing at stake to surrender. do you mean will we just leave? at some point yes. we can kill a 1000 terrorists, but our presence there creates a 1000 more. the koran orders muslims to kill foreign troops (crusaders) on muslim soil, so wave after wave of guerrillas will attack us just because we're there. when we leave, the shiites, especially the mehdi army, will kill the insurgents and terrorists. that's a good thing.

Nope, but I can see the U.S. making a quiet withdraw in a few years, and leave it up to the new Iraqi government for security. However, I think the new government can take care of themselves.

To who? We should have never gone to Iraq in the first place. It sure brings out the barbarian in arabs though. Executions without trial, chlorine bombs, suicide bombers and cars. And let's not forget the fun with power drill mutilation that arabs are so fond of. Personally I don't think there's anyone or anything worth one drop of american blood in Iraq. The funny part?? We're the "bad guys". I never thought I'd see an entire brain dead culture in this day and age. I guess that's why their stuck in the dark ages in belief and practices.

Not very likely. there are too many US interests and allies in that region that will suffer from US withdrawal from Iraq. so the situation is very different from Vietnam, for instance.
More likely the US will try to intimidate Syria from supporting the Sunni terrorists, and Iran from doing the same with the Shiite ones.
