You conveniently forget that there has been killing in the name of eradication of religion, committed by atheists,so that is certainly not exempt. And please, how do you know that's it's false promises?
There is just as much hate caused by other things that have nothing to do with religion.Like greed for resources.A thirst for political power.World domination.
And I'm just about *sick* of this 'mind-control' rot.I am not being controlled.I am perfectly sane, reasonable, and I am not a dunce either.

How can you rid humanity of emotions, a need for revenge, selfishness, or hatred? If you can remove them then you may be able to remove religion. If you base your belief that religion is mind control because others have told you then you are not examining it on your own and are being controlled by the person who told you that. If you have actually looked into it with an open mind then you have grounds to say that.

Unfortunately instead of bringing people closer together to their neighbour, and sending out love to all, most religions separate the people into different groups. I am positive God did not intend for his people to feel they were superior to another group. If you follow Jesus or you dont it doesnt matter. Each person has a right to follow what he or she believes in. People get passionate about their beliefs and they try to ram it down the throats of others. The true religious person believes in one God for all. Love thy neighbour no matter what he believes and rate a person by his deeds not what he believes.

It's going to take a long, long, long time for that to ever happen...Which annoys me as I have to live in a world today filled with all of that.
The only thing I can hope to do is to help the world move towards a time of peace, without religion controlling the thoughts of the masses.

Hello future_m… :)
I used to think and feel the same way you do.. :(
But now that I know Jesus, I can honestly say, it is not mind control..but Heart control.. :)
Where there used to be anger, there is now kindness..
Where there used to be hatred, there is now Love..
Where there used to be hopelessness, there is now a future..
Where there was judgement of others, there is now forgiveness..
Where there was self gratification, there is now thinking of others first..
Where there used to be pay back, there is now pray back..
In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

I can't understand how people who believe in God can justify these realities to themselves, It's frightening just how brainwashed people can be. I asked a couple of questions along this line yesterday about a world without religion etc, check the answers, nothing even remotley convincing.

When people stop practicing religion and start living by faith and obey the commandments.
When Christ returns..religion dies. Only praise, worship, righteousness and basking in His glory will survive.

Through education and more education.
Excercising your right to vote is pretty important too.
The world would be a much better place if a few more people had voted for someone other than that war lover you guys currently have in the whitehouse!
