The soul is an interior castle according to St. Teresa of Avila. Like a diamond, the soul is formed into many facets. The soul is the dwelling place of the spirit. It is the seat or housing for the drivers and source commands that elicit a response from intellect, memory, feelings, and emotions. God is working by means of the Gospel to try to keep people from destroying their soul and become dysfunctional. The soul is the "mansion" of Paradise. And it is meant to be formed through Grace, where through the teachings of Christ one is made "beautiful" through the operations of the soul. This beauty is the internal beauty that is treasured by God.

I believe the soul is our true self, then we are born into a world where we are influenced greatly by circumstances, choices, and all we come into contact with. The goal is to remain true to your spirit. The memory and physical self are incorporated into the whole being, and therefor becomes a part of who you are. Follow your heart and remember the soul is all encompassing of love and goodness, your heart should lead you on a path of only that. Good luck.
