I am having a baby...10 days late actually and being induced tomorrow if i dont go into labor today. Anyways my cat had been the baby and he knows it.was wondering if he senses a change? He doesnt really seem to have a clue as in what is goin on his mommy just has a big ledge of a belly he can sit on. I am concerned as I will be gone for a few days and he will be home alone besides an occasional check in. How can i make this easier on him? Any ideas? He has already taken over the nursery...i find him in there constantly, he sleeps on the changing table. He will adjust right? Thanks!

yes my cat is an indoor only cat. And of course i am worried about other things and my baby but I am extremely attached to my cat and I dont consider him "just an animal."

awwwwww, yes I definitely think cats are very smart and can sense things. My cat knows when I'm getting ready to leave for a day or two. Your cat will adjust just fine.....he might be jealous for a little while but just let him know he's still part of the family and he'll be okay!

Cats are very perceptive. Of course he senses change. The cat should be the least of your worries at this time. If you give the cat as much attention as you can, it will help, but it might not be enough. No matter what you do, though, he may decide to be naughty and scratch furniture, pee in the corner or push things of the table. You will have to decide where your time is best spent and how much of this you can take.

Then again, there are cats who are wonderful and accept change well. However, the cat is still an animal and I'd be very watchful with him around the baby.

I hope your cat is an indoor only cat. Cats who go outside can bring things back inside that you wouldn't want around your baby -- fleas, tapeworms, and other generally disgusting stuff.

have a cat sitter come in and sit with him
he will adjust
he needs to be introduced to new baby and be spoilt so as to not crave attention otherwise this might lead him to feelings of jealousy and insecurity

good luck
