without a doubt. my girlfriend was crying the other day and her cat kept her company. It's not only crying they can sense too. When she used to walk home from work late at night, her cat would meet her on the corner of her road n walk home with her.

Cats are the most psychic of any four footed animal I've ever known. Yes yes yes they can. My cat is so sensitive, when I have really heavy anxieties I go out of my way not to let her know by, say, whistling a happy little tune, never raising my voice & so on. But she KNOWS. She'll come & pat my leg, very gently, & talk to me in interrogative tones. When I came home from hospital & was about 98% immobile, she never left my side except to eat & use her sandbox. & what I have recently found almost awesome, is that when I'm busy, I sometimes I forget my ESSENTIAL medication in evenings, (8p) & she will wake from a nap & alert me with a "ne-OW!"
She also knows before the phone rings. As much as I "try" to hide my "negative" feelings so I won't upset her, she KNOWS the inner me. I cannot hide that from her. Cats are by nature very loving & nurturing. & by the way, I don't call her my "pet."
She is my best friend. Often, people aren't aware of the feline's "sixth" sense, or haven't bonded with them, & may never have experienced this. I've never known a human to be so sensitive & caring!

Absolutely. When my son was 5 years old he had a cat named Mr. Fluffy. When my son was upset or crying Mr. Fluffy ran to him to see what was wrong and crawled on his lap or snuggled up next to him. Mr. Fluffy was a very special pet for 14 years.
When I took aspirin or vitamins, as soon as Mr. Fluffy heard the bottle shake he was right there in front of me, meowing like he wanted to know what the heck I was doing. The kids called him the "Say No To Drugs" cat. We even took Mr. Fluffy to school to demonstrate!
That was many years ago. I have different cats now and they can sense when I'm not well and stay close to keep watch over me.

Hi!
Awww, I'm sorry to hear you were upset! :-( I hope you are feeling better now.
I think cats are excellent at knowing when a human is upset. It's very difficult to comprehend exactly how they know, but they seem to be aware of various emotions in a household.
For example, we stayed at my sister-in-law's house and took our kitten with us. My sister-in-law has a 1 year old son and was very anxious about the cat going near him. Our cat picked up on all this anxiety and became quite anxious himself; retreating into the corner.
Some cats seem to pick up on emotions more than others. I had 3 cats whilst I was growing up and one of them was particularly sweet when I was feeling down. Even if I wasn't crying, but was feeling sad, he would come and sit on my lap and be affectionate in a different kind of way to when he just wanted fuss. I think cats are so much more intelligent and affectionate than people (dog owners!!) give them credit for.
You are really lucky to have such a lovely feline. I hope he managed to cheer you up :-)
xx Emmie

Cats can't tell or speak our language BUT they do understand and feel to our reactions.
Cats react by being more cuddly and pat and rub themselves with their pet owners for response, because pets are humans next best friends.Pets display pampering reactions either from their end or want to get it from thier owners as its inactively a good bonding amongst themselves.
Yes Pets do get upset and annoyed,if your asking about cats yes they definitely do.
The cats display a frown head with sort of wrinkles when they are upset and do not like anyone getting closer to them or are afraid of something they will screech a scarry meow hiss and scratch with their paw nails.

yes they know i think they have a sixth sense for this type of thing more so than dogs. my cats seem to know when i am about to fit and will sit with me throughout (so i have been told) i know that afterwards they lick my face and stay close so i can fuss them until i feel better. i have also found that if i am upset they will come and sit with me. both of things occur even when cats have been asleep or in another room they just seem to know when we need them the most. keep on loving him and he will keep on loving you in the way you need.

I think they get a "feeling" like humans do that something is wrong.(or right) I know when I get a migraine my cat seems to be a little calmer. Instead of jumping around or running across my bed, he lies quietly on and it and makes hardly a movement. It's as if he is tell me I am still here but not moving so you won't hurt. If I am in a good mood my cat seems to want to run around and play more. I definitely think they pick up on our emotions.

Yes, my 10 month old kitty would not leave me alone a couple of days ago when I found out my older cat had been run over and killed, normally she's a bit of snob and doesn't enjoy fuss but she just sat on my lap giving me kisses.

Yes they can
I have a kitten who's a little monster and a bit crazy but even he knows if I'm feeling down and comes and sits on my shoulder like a parrot purring in my ear :-)
Cats are great! and know a lot more than people give them credit for. I think they are very empathic.
