Hi!

What a refreshing piece of old news. The whole of the UK will benefit from this new legislation.
I was in Scotland last September and it was quite significant in the pup I went to that smokers respected the law and went outside to smoke. No problem to them, but it wasn't raining!
To Tommo, wyt ti shariad cymraeg? Cymer olwg ar caergybi.com To the others who read this, think of the growing generations and smokers, both you and the rest of the community at large will be able to smell the roses and the coffee much better.
To the doubters of the statement that Wales is beautiful, look no further than the Principality's mountains in the North. You will have to go a long way to see anything like the splendour that awaits you.

Seems a bit Nanny State, doesn't it? It's probably swings & roundabouts - some will hate it, others will love it. But it does seem to have worked elsewhere; some people give up, and others just feel even more like lepers. To visit now, they would presumably have to endure hours in planes/trains/coaches where they can't smoke.

It won't make much difference to visitor numbers; it's not really something you consider when booking a holiday. As time goes on, more 'casual' smokers will give up & it'll be a problem for the minority.

From what I've seen, there are other concerns you should have. My family usually books a cottage in Cornwall; one year we went to Wales instead. We found ourselves in a coastal village with no pub or shop, no restaurant or takeaway. The harbour was silted up, the nearest pub was grotty, the nearest shop on its last legs. To get anywhere you had to drive through village after village where the shops & pubs had closed down; there seemed to be no motivation, no work.

St Davids was wonderful, and Cardiff is a great capital, but some places need a shot in the arm.

You can also see the attitude of some of your countrymen, who don't welcome English visitors, (don't know if they feel the same about other nationalities,) unlike the Cornish who are quite happy to take the grockles' money.

I'm from Cardiff but have lived in Greece for 5 years. I went home for Xmas and found that I couldn't smoke ANYWHERE anyway!!! Even smoking in the street got me nasty looks and tuts from the PC brigade. Does this ban now mean you can't smoke anywhere instead of your own home? I went to the pub one night with all my family and we had to go outside the pub to smoke, I couldn't believe it!!! I suppose it's only right though, it'll just take time for people to get used to it.

In Greece they smoke in the banks, hospitals, even the Doctors smoke in their surgeries. I have given up now but even when I smoked, I found it really annoying going into a professional organisation and having smoke blown in my face. I would love to see the ban come in in Greece, there would be uproar!!!

In answer to your question though, I would love to come and visit cos I miss the green green grass of home.

Well I'd go to Cardiff because the pubs there are brilliant and the people are really friendly.

Fond memories of Liverpool lifting the FA cup at the end of St Mary's Street. Luvit.

I smoke. I don't want to stop. But some of my best friends live in Wales.
So it looks like I will be chewing gum.
No contest.
