Why would someone ask someone you know for you?

We haven't been speaking for about three years and my friend that work at CVS told me she saw him today and he asked her "have you seen soso around". What's your take on this?

Well, he could be geniunely interested in how you've been doing if he hasn't talked to you in 3 years. Obviously, you meant something to him - for him to ask about you. I think it's sincere.
Women often make an impression on men - and after some time has passed - we reminisce on good thing. So, feel good - you're special to him.
