six months ago, my mom and I got this kitten. since she is a female, the next step in her life would be to go into heat. (My mom couldn't afford to take her to get her spayed and I had $400 that I got from working but my mom needed it for bills so i gave it to her. My mom didn't want to check with the vet to see if we could work out some payment plan) I realize that if we don't even have money to take her to the vet, we probably shouldn't have her because she deserves a family who can pay for it. Anyway, when female cats go into heat, they spray trying to attract male cats and let them know that they are in heat. Foxy has been spraying. A lot. My mom, who doesnt even have to clean it up, is fed up with it and she gets really mad.i don't think Foxy, who isn't really at fault here, should get yelled at and spanked because that to me is cruel. So, the best thing to do is to give her away, but it's hard cuz i luv her a lot. What are some things I can do after she's gone to stop from crying

Unfortunately I don't have any money and my mom wont even spare a dime for that. The fact that Foxy is spraying is kind of my moms fault, in a way, but maybe Im just being bitter. So, it's pretty much decided that Foxy will get a new home, all I'm asking is for ways I can help cope. Any suggestions on things I can do to forget her? Maybe just pass the time until I finally decide to face that she is gone? I don't know. What would be easiest, dealing with it right away or just avoiding?

No offense taken. I love my mom but she is not the easiet person to deal with. She has some anger issues and what not and I think that's what drove my sisters to move out. I would have moved out as well but no matter how horrible a person is they don't deserve to be alone, right? I think that my broken relationship with my mom is what made me attatch to my cat so easily. It'd be like losing my best friend. That's why it will be so hard.

im sorry to offend you in any way but your mom sounds like a real low life. I sure hope that she is working too and not just taking your money. I understand that you are going through a hard time and sometimes you have to do whats best. I wish there was some other way as I feel so bad for the kitty and I feel for you as well. Its too bad your mom doesnt understand its not the kittys fault. It will be very sad for you i am sure but please make sure your kitty is safe, dont just let her run loose. AS far as coping goes it will take time, you will get better but you will never forget getting rid of something you love. Good luck.

Your explanation of the situation is very good and you're taking this in a very adult manner.

As time goes by you will miss her less and less. When you keep busy you won't have time to cry. Also, talking about her will lessen the hurt. You will always have fond memories of Foxy.

It can be frustrating for a parent to have cat mess in the house because sometimes no matter how much you clean it up it still smells. If you don't clean it up with an enzymatic cleaner like Simple Solution, the cat will still smell it and go back there again. Foxy didn't make a "decision" to do what she did -- it was a reaction to her hormones.

You're right that if someone doesn't have money for vet bills they shouldn't have pets. Sometimes pets get sick even after you've had them "fixed" so you'd need money for that, too. So the best place for Foxy is a new home with people who can afford to take care of her.

Do you have a friend with cats you could visit so you could get a "cat fix"? Are you old enough to volunteer at a pet shelter to help take care of cats?

Try helping out at an animal shelter, or if you give her to someone you know you could visit her. or get the new owners to let you know how she is doing.

The SPCA in your town should have low-cost spaying you might be able to look into
