The Mondeo, like the Vectra, is built as a "rep's" car and expected to cover astronomical motorway miles. With scrupulous servicing & maintenance, it should run well into its second century without problem. The enemy of any engine is frequent stop/starts, if you do that I'd suggest changing the oil and filter more frequently than recommended, and change the cambelt in good time.

this engine does no longer have a timing chain as somebody else suggested, it does have a belt. in case you don't be attentive to the final time it replace into replaced then i in my opinion might have it performed quicker somewhat than later. get an entire kit performed, thats the tensioners etc as nicely. provides peace of strategies in the lengthy run. dont placed this off, a snapped timing belt in a sixteen valve engine is disastrous and severe priced!

You'd have to be looking at 300,000 k's or 188,000 miles as long as it's usually driven on trips over 20 k's, or 13 miles.

as above, many, as long as you put the right oil in (semi 5/40)
dont just change the belt, do the tensioners and idlers too, (comes in a kit for about £70.00) believe me, if youre gonna keep it, its worth it!!
