It is difficult to find affordable rooms for a family that has more than 2 adults, usually the charges for extra adults or children are added, as well as extra beds when available. I dont think you need to book a package deal, just go on expedia to find the hotel, and on discover hong kong for a thorough listing of all there is to do in HK. For a family, I find that the Silvermine Beach hotel is the best location, in a quiet secluded area away from the city buzz, yet close enough to go in the morning to HK or Kowloon via a 30 minute ferry ride to do some sightseeing and shopping. Plus it is really the cheapest place to stay (around $60US per night), near the Big Buddha, Tai O village, the Po Li monastery, on Lantau Island, which is relatively untouched, green and lush, a great contrast from HK a few minutes away. After a whole day in HK, you will appreciate the calm at the hotel. It has a relatively nice beach and swimming pool, and while the hotel is not a 4* resort (it's a bit run down, I dont understand why the owners don't give it a good paint job and make it a beautiful family resort), the new wing is great, clean and spacious. Try to get a room with ocean view.

Better check on travel agencies on your place. Definitely there is one for a family!
I had been to Hongkong 2x and it is nice to explore this area. However, you will be walking most of the time and if you have children, Hongkong Disneyland would be the best place to go. Dont miss Victoria's peak and the Avenue of stars at night since the Symphony of Lights are better seen in these areas. The best of course is at the Avenue of Stars. Most travel agencies dont include this and they only include city tour in the morning.

Contact the YMCA Salsbury in Kowloon, it is family friendly, and you can get a dorm room that has bunk beds in it. They have activities for children, and a gym and a pool. Located next to the Penninsula Hotel, if you get a waterview, you can see the island of Hong Kong and at night the light show. Enjoy!

this of course you have to check with your local travel agents. Packages are available but you will need time to source for a good bargain.
Wherever you are, try www.cathaypacific.com
CX offers quite a lot of packages, not not the cheapest.
