I get "(not responding)" at least two or three times a day, every single day, whether I'm trying to open my trash folder (offline), trying to open Word Perfect (offline), trying to get to my home page (online), you name it. I click on something (an icon or downsize button) and nothing happens. Nothing. And I wait and click again. Nothing. Then it says "(not responding)" and closes eventually and sends "error reports" to whoever.

I HAVE had my computer (2 years old) and also had my other computer (laptop, brand new) looked at by a computer expert. I don't share files or programs between the 2 computers and the main reason I got the laptop was because the other computer has so many error messages. He said they're fine.

So... wtf??? Anybody have any ideas?

Internet Explorer can act up for many reasons. Laptops that rely on wireless connections, for example, could be having a connectivity issue (wireless dropping often) which is causing IE to hang up.

Other possibilities include spyware or virus infections. It doesn't take long to infect a computer depending on how you use it. If you do a lot of downloading/installing from a lot of different sites, then there's a higher probability that you will get infected. Maybe that's already happened to you.

Download programs like Ad-Aware and Spybot (which are free), and run both to remove as much spyware as they can find. On systems with minor infections, these programs work well. But on systems that are heavily infected, they hardly make a dent. In those cases it is best to backup your personal data, shortcuts, and favorites then format your PC and start over.

Good luck...

Click start >click run >type in msconfig click on the startup tab then uncheck everything there except your anti virus and internet connection . Click ok and your computer will restart . Then see if your computer is freezing.

Do an Online Scan with any of the online scanners lists on the link below and let us know what virus you have on your computer.

It's not neccessarily an error, all it means it that the program is processing an event and it's actions, without having stopped for a period of time. It is fairly common, but should not happen that many times.

Unfortunately I lack the knowledge to explain why the problem exists, so you may want to ask a few more people.

information superhighway Explorer sucks! swap to a distinct browser...that occurred to me each of the time even as i replaced into utilizing IE too. yet you've gotten an endemic or something too, so get that checked.
