Has anyone else noticed the vast number of poorly constructed questions and answers floating around out there? It seems people are typing as fast as they can without regards to grammer or punctuation. Half the time the questions here don't even make sense. What gives?

Touche, Maria. Looks like I got a little lazy myself.

Yes, it probably has to some degree - just look at the way you yourself spelled grammar ;-)
I think though, that many will experience an improvement in their typing skills as another answerer said, and if we take care not to let chatting vocabulary spill over into other types of writing, perhaps it's not such a bad thing that people get a little creative with their language.
The problem is only if people completely mindlessly use their chat or text message style(s) of writing in all their other kinds of writing, or in the case of non-English speaking people, let English take over in their daily language because they're so used to using it on the net or simply because they think it's cool.

There is nothing I hate more than to see young people talking that gibberish slang on the internet. Well, I suppose there are some things I hate more, but not many. Sometimes I can't even understand what some of the words mean and I am not even that old. I think this generation will have little understanding of the beauty of real literature.
But I will admit to taking cetain liberties with the English language myself. I can not pronounce antenna. I always say AN-TAN-A not AN-TEN-A. It's sad. I also write "lol" so many times a day that once I actually said it when someone said something funny in real life. But this all pales in comparison to my sisters calling me "Da Trillist sis in da wrld"

Language changes:
spelling, meaning and grammar.
But the rate of change (let us not say "deterioration" just yet) has been spectacular in the last 15-20 years.

The ability to put a well-composed question together, at leat on YA appears much reduced.
Part is the cell-phone induced desire to minimise key stokes, but there is a lack of thought and consideration as well.

"Can U Help????????????"
"Answer this PLZ!!?"
Give not a clue as to the nature of the question, which would be helpful!

Rare use of a spell-checker, though it is provided, and not checking to see if a question has been asked a hundred times before.
Yes, laziness is at least as good a suggestion as ignorance and stupidity.

I am not a Grammar Nazi.
More of a Grammar Rommel.
I will fight for the grammar forces unless they become tyrannical, when I may rebel against them.

I believe the murder of our languages on the internet is leading to altered thinking. How many teenagers use the word "like" when describing something? They say this because they are no longer sure enough to say what actually is IMO. Not only made lazy writers but fuzzy thinkers and they seem to use potted logic. BTW have you seen the new special effects on movies??? can anyone say what is real and what is not on a movie? (Sorry off topic a bit)

Oh god, yes. I am so sick and tired of people writing "u" and stuff with "z" that doesn't even HAVE a "z" in it as well as all the horrible grammar and spelling and lack of punctuation. As an English major and a future college professor, the writing on the internet makes me cringe.

No! Laziness has made people lazy writers. The Internet has just given them a public forum in which to show it to the world.

I think that people make themselves lazy. I personally have vastly improved my typing/writing skills because of online services such as Y!A.

One thing I cannot stand is the fact that people substitute actual words/thoughts/sentences with strings of letters.

I don't think grammer matters as long as you can understand what they're asking. I can't read something if it's like this:
y do ppl use da puter lingo? its soooo confuzin. 2 hard 2 reed.
That gets on my nerves.
Punctuation or grammer doesn't bother me, but that does.
