My new bf just got a really curly afro all done up in the teensiest little curls. I love it! I want to have mine done like his but am afraid of what people would say. I am SO tired of straight hair and lame-looking loose curls. Help!

Just do it!. I love curly hair, and I am the one I try most to please.

For the majority of my teen/adult life, I had a long tight corkscrew perm. I loved it up until about 5 years ago when I decided to grow it out and go straight. To be honest, I could not go back to having it curly again now as it was so high maintenance. It also used to cost me £180 about 3 or 4 times a year to have it done and not to mention the 7-8 hours it used to take! Never again! The problem with a real tight perm/affro is that it is so great when it is done, but it starts growing out quick and when it starts growing out it looks pretty crap so you have to keep it maintained. I found that regular perms also ruined my hair too, they made it really dry and brittle and my hair started coming out whilst washing.

However, if you are happy to go through all the above, then go ahead and have it done, afterall its your hair, dont worry about what other people say, its your hair and your life! Good luck with whatever you choose!
