j/w b/c i heard on some channel (maybe the discovery channel?) that a t-rex is only 10%-20% percent larger than a elephant, and i recently went to the dinosaur walk museum and was like DAMN!!!! if a t-rex is only 10-20% larger than a elephant, than a elephant is much bigger than i thought lol, so does anyone know how much bigger a t-rex is than a african elephant (i wanna know how much bigger they were than a african elephant b/c a african elephant is bigger than a asian one) THANKS!!! also can anyone tell me how big the average african elephant is compared to the average t-rex?

From fossil evidence, the Tyrannosaurs Rex was between forty & forty-three feet long making it 'longer' than the elephant. If memory serves me right, the biggest (individual) elephant was an Indian Elephant which stood 13' in height at the shoulder. The T-Rex weighted beween 6 and 7 n 1/2 tons; the African Elephant (generally considered THE biggest elephant) can weight up to 13 tons.

So there you have it. The T-Rex was longer but weighed less than the average African Elephant. Even though the T-Rex was huge, it wasn't the biggest carnivour. Giganotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus were even bigger.

Hope that helped.

According to science and history, the Tyrannosaurus Rex reached heights of 43 feet tall while the African Elephant only reaches heights between 10-12 feet but have been known to reach a height of 14 feet tall. The difference is about 30+ feet! That's a big difference! lol

The Afrikan bush elephant goes a bit over 12 feet tall when it reaches adulthood....the tyrranosaurus goes 14-16.

10-20% larger than the elephant would be 13 1/4 -14 1/2 feet. A pretty close approximation of an average tyrranosaurus.

I believe you're confusing height with length, though. At one time, the t-rex was assumed to stand upright and the height was thus exaggerated. These days, most "experts" believe it stood with its mass lower with the tail stretched out straight back to counterbalance the head held straight out forward. Sorta like a horse is measured at the shoulder standing still....not rearing up.
