Quote

The Taliban, under the direction of Mullah Muhammad Omar, brought about this order through the institution of a very strict interpretation of Sharia, or Islamic law. Public executions and punishments (such as floggings) became regular events at Afghan soccer stadiums. Frivolous activities, like kite-flying, were outlawed. In order to root out "non-Islamic" influence, television, music, and the Internet were banned. Men were required to wear beards, and subjected to beatings if they didn't.

Most shocking to the West was the Taliban's treatment of women. When the Taliban took Kabul, they immediately forbade girls to go to school. Moreover, women were barred from working outside the home, precipitating a crisis in healthcare and education. Women were also prohibited from leaving their home without a male relative—those that did so risked being beaten, even shot, by officers of the "ministry for the protection of virtue and prevention of vice." A woman caught wearing fingernail polish may have had her fingertips chopped off. All this, according to the Taliban, was to safeguard women and their honor.

i could find just as many links for christianity or any religion.

ALL religions cause war and pain.
ALLreligions has dictator style leaders, either living or dead, that are followed without questions.

The world is more educated now and we should move on from religion, god, sun etc.. worshipping.

Iran is not a representative for the Islamic world as Bush is not for Christian world.. Stoning is a very brutal punishment not mentioned in the Quran.. Traditions and internal laws of retarded countries lead to this.. you must be aware that Tortering the native Americans and hanging the blacks is not of christianity although practiced by America one day...

Mrs. Shirin Ebadi In your link is a muslim and condemned the action...

Taliban is an American Made military group to irritate russia.. America used to call them "the rightous fighters" "Al Mujahedeen" when they fought Russia.. Now they are terrorists because they Fight America back, right :D

I saw a show about one of the girls that got hanged earlier today.

Problem is, first htey claim they are following the shariah law.....then they blatantly dont' follow it.

The girl in this case was having sex with a married man....technically he was raping her.....well countless times....so there is the issue of why did she keep going back....regardless.
Even if it was just adultry....since she's unmarried, her sentence woudl've been a public lashing....based on shariah law.......execution has no place.

Secondly...they also screwed up in this case by stating the girl was 22 when she was 16 and they have laws against executing minors.

So this case inparticular was a paper work mess up...and corruption.

Most of the times in these cases, cultural laws get mixed in with the religious laws........

so if women in iran or afghanistan r being banned from goin 2 skool, internett is banned , they cant drive etc r followin da so called "islamic sharia" then wat abt women in dubai, bahrain, kuwait, qatar etc where none of dese things r banned? u mean we arent foll da islamic sharia?n we arent gud muslims?
if u wanna understand the concept of hijab n veil then plz 1st sep the cultural norms n da style of da society from religion.
many of da muslim scholars dun approve of the "stoning".
cuttin da fingernails coz of nail polish or whtever is absurd! also education is the rite of a muslim women so again this is absurd sinz islam asks women 2 be educated. im a muslim women myself living in da middle east n i n da oder muslims here can clearly see dat these countries arent foll islam at ALL!

There is no such concept in Islam that is called “honor killing”. Islam holds every soul in high esteem and does not allow any transgression upon it. It does not allow people to take the law in their own hands and administer justice, because doing so will be leading to chaos and lawlessness. Therefore, based on this, Islam does not permit such killings.
