Go to a store like Walmart, Kmart, Target, or an outdoor supply store and get an air mattress. They come in all shapes and sizes, and most these stores have very flexible return policies, so keep the receipt and if gets a hole within then the 1st 90 days take it back. It's not 100% perfect take it back before the return period expires.
I've know college students who return their mattress before the 90 days and get a new one. If you keep the reciept you can get the money back and start all over again.
You can get a really cheap twin bed size one for $10 - $15 and really nice double high queen size one with a memory form top for $50 and all kinds in between.
Only cavet, if you have a cat you'll have a lot of holes if you don't keep the cat away from it or cap all the cats crawls.

Ever thought of getting a futon?
You can buy one new for a much cheaper price than a bed and they are really really comfy and low maintenance.
It may feel weird being low down at first but i stayed in a japanese hotel for a few weeks where the only bedding was a futon, and i got a great nights sleep every night. If you want more room in your bedroom you can always fold the futon away and store it in a cupboard.
You could always get 2 and keep one for when you have guests staying over.
Hope this helps!

1. You can buy one of those blow up mattresses. They are relatively inexpensive.
2. How about a Futon. Check around, you can usually find them fairly cheap.
3. Frames are very inexpensive, and the Salvation Army in our area takes mattresses, removes and replaces the covers. They sell them for alot less than buying a new mattress.

you have a couch?? that's luxury.
what about a hammock? you could get one with it's own frame, or have strong hooks mounted in the wall.
don't forget to sleep across it, not in a bow along the length.
