we get on well with other people, but if where on our own he sometimes stutters and if i get close to him he goes red. I sometimes catch him looking at me, he quickly looks away i dont know why,

sometimes a guy likes a girl so much and he is pretty sure that the feeling is unrequited, not only that he doesnt want to chase her of by doing or saying something stupid that he ends up stammering and blushing and would flat out bolt away if he thought people (especially the girl) would not laugh at him.

He's one of those people who does better in a gathering with back up, so to speak. The moment he's alone with you, now your full attention is on him, making his nerves do cartwheels. It's quite normal and should be taken as a compliment. :)

some people have this thing cause by feel shame so if he do this that mean maybe he love you are like you or admire you so me advise to you to talk to him and know the reason to act like this and have a nice day?

what are u to each other sounds like your friends but sounds a little more too.if your not togeather maybe he likes u and doesnt know how to tell u or express it and when u get close it makes him nervous.

He's nervous he will embarass himself or do something wrong. And he really likes you. Be real with him, and take things slow and ease him into a relationship (be it as a friend or bf).
