the father is in his 40s and son is in his 20s and they have boxing matches. real actual boxing, and some times muay thai as well.
full physical contact and none of them goes easy on the other.
they do it in the backyard where there is plenty of open spaces and on a mat.
they both party together, son and dad and all of their friends hang out together and party, drink, do guys stuff etc, i know that part is ok, but what about the boxing.....

As long as they don't injure one another--meaning--no one gets seriously hurt or breaks bones--goes to the hospital--is bleeding, etc-after every match--It's fine...You may be feeling like their bonding is a bit too one-sided--heavy on the physically violent side-you could try to introduce some other family activities or other sports that are not so competitive or physical just so that they can focus on other things as well--Maybe go on vacation and everone take up a new sport--or say you want to participate in some activities and plan something with them--it's not bad for them to be doing this boxing--again--as long as they are not getting injured--but they don't want to turn into one-sided personalities--they should be well-rounded with many different interests--that way--you can be interested in what's going on too!! Balance--life is about balance...tell them that--since they're into boxing--they should understand that their lives need to be balanced as well--not just their bodies in the ring...

I think that it's cool that a father and son box and hang out. If they both can handle the sport of it and not get mad when one or the other is hit then more power to them. That just shows you that they have a strong bond.

Men are strange critters. Mix it with beer and other critters of the same sort and you have a real strange show on your hands. At least there is no guns involved. ( Hunting) Sounds like they are well... Manly chest beating beer drinking howl at the moon type of men. Now, as long as one of them isn't forcing the other to fight, both men are grown, and this is probably the way they have always bonded.

Muay thai is a very extreme form of kickboxing but as long as they are both okay with it, I would say stop peeking over the fence.

It feels like the father desires to reclaim his teenagers by using putting out with the son and the son's friends. it is super that they do stuff mutually, however the character of thier events is a touch questionable. yet, hiya, this is purely me; i do no longer extremely get the full Vegas and stripclubs concern!!

Not your average normal, but if they both enjoy it, then there's nothing wrong with it at all. I've heard of fathers playing catch with their sons, too. Some even fish together.

Well, I don't know if it's "normal" or not but it seems to be two consenting adults... So... to each their own!
