im atheist in practice.
no matter what u say..if u cant find proof that god created the universe..it is not a fact, but a figment of the curious minds of human beings. all strongly religious people speak up and bring me a strong enough arguement.

evolution is a theory but not proven? lmao..millions of years ago there were armored fish in the sea..now few of them..why? cos of evolution. evolution is not just a theory its the fact resulting from natural selection.
no one knows for sure how the universe was created..so the big bang is atheory and thats all it is..so the belif that god created everything is just that..a belief. now let me define the words theory and belief. when u say believe it means u accept something as a fact to urself. when u say theory..in scientific terms..it means something that COULD have happened.
so i think it would be foolish to put all ur faith and belief on just one thing such as 'god created this universe'..thats ridiculous.

There are two things that God does; Evolution and dissolution.

He does not make any thing like our engineers do. He presents this world which is hidden in Him during dissolution. With the world we also come on the scene.

The subject is such, that even all the smartest minds put together and if they work for ages, will not be able to comprehend it.

So the mystery remains as it will remain always.

Yet there are people who have known Him some how. That 'somehow' can only be explained by a true saint and not by the religion as we practice.

We get frustated because we have no faith, we have no faith because we do not know our relationship to God.

Dear kenr3009,

i think the purpose of yahoo answers is not necessarily to "convert" people. For one thing most people who have a deep rooted conviction about something- will not change it over a couple of paragraphs. So i can't offer you "overwhelming" proof that'll blow your mind away, but i'll give you a few simple tidbits to chew on.

As we observe the universe- it points to an intelligent creator. Look at how complicated the human body is, and how all the parts work together (i believe it makes as much sense that the body was designed by an intelligent creator) than man evolving from monkeys or the big bang theory (where random molecules formed together)... etc.

The Bible also contains truth. Genesis tells us that man was made from dust and God breathed life into man. And in Genesis 3:19 it talks about how man returns to dust-- interestingly when we die- our bodies decompose and we become ash (dust).

The Bible is not meant to be a scientific text book but the science found in the Bible is true. The Bible for example tells us that the stars are innumerable and for years scientists have tried to count the stars and claimed they were numerable. As technology got better and better and telescopes became more and more developed they found that the stars are indeed innumerable.

Anyhow here are a couple of reasons why i personally believe that God made the universe. It seems to merit as much attention and close examination as the theories of evolution and the Big Bang.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Here's your argument. The Intelligent Design argument, it seems to me, is irrefutable. It's a simple logical argument:
Premise #1: Wherever you find design, you need a designer.
Premise #2: The universe is full of design
Conclusion: The universe needs a designer.
Either you feel that premise 1 or 2 is false or you don't feel that the conclusion follows from premise 1 and 2. But premise 1 is obvious. You just have to be blind to disagree with premise 2 and the conclusion certainly does follow from premise 1 and 2. So tell me what's wrong with that argument.
The universe has information. DNA is a language. In other words, we have information in our genes. Information only comes from intelligence. Hence, the universe not only needs a designer but it needs an intelligent designer. The universe has personality(namely, US[humans]). But if the universe(the effect) has personality, the designer-creator(the cause)must also have personality. The universe has moral consciousness(again, mankind) so the cause of the universe must have moral consciousness. The universe is immense and powerful so the cause of the universe must be immense and powerful. The universe has will(men make choices of their own free will). The universe has emotion since men have emotion.
You can call this creator-designer whatever you want. I call Him God. After all, who could create a universe but God?
Now let's see, the creator-designer of this universe has will, intellect, emotion, personality, moral consciousness and immense power. That actually sounds a lot like the christian God.

although i am not a christian there is a strong argument for creation. Just dealing with the odds of the big bang theory what are the chance that 2 large enough bodies floating in space are going to hit together at just the right time an just the right way. Evolution the thought has some merit but it is also just a theory can not be proven within a shadow of a doubt

well it depends on what you mean by "made".

from a certain angle, the mere fact that the universe exists(which is proved by the fact that theres anything here to ask the question of/about/from) proves that "god made it".

now you could say that existance is merely a result of ... well, non-non-existance, that physics and matter and energy and the nature of all that is, simply is without creator, and merely by the nature of its existance.

but honestly I don't think thats really any different from saying God put it there. seems to me its all a matter of preference, is it a week or 7 days?

how do you define what "God" is? what you call God, I might agree to not exist.
but the God that I believe in, I know for a fact to exist, merely by nature of things I've perceived and experienced and what I define God as.

Well, according to the Bible He did. Water and sky were once one gaseous cloud that passed through the galaxy and gave us atmosphere. He made animals before He made humans according to Genesis, which coincides with science. He created time and for the first time there was day and night, and He made the stars visible at night rather than day. The stars were not visible at night before He created the sky. He took a rib from Adam and made Eve, and a man has one less rib than a woman. What does God need with proof when He does all that?

You demand proof, but you wouldn't listen to it even if it was brought to you. Can you prove otherwise? No, you can't. Nobody knows how it all started, none of us were there. All we have is theory or faith, and after looking around at how delicate the world really is, I'm going to stick with faith.

If you open up your heart instead of your mind, you would see the proof all around you. This question is similar to the the argument of when people thought the world was flat.

It's all in what one believes. If someone believes God created the Universe or Earth than that is what he or she believes in. I guess those who believe in God see proof one way or another.
