You're asking a question that you probably have concerns or hunches on already. And I believe that a lot and I mean a lot will die, maybe even resembling Dafur. It will be really difficult for the new Iraqi government, police, and military to control the violence in their country today against the experienced militia. And believe me they know that also and probably are planning their futures right now. To plan their escape from Iraq and become a refugee.

the main compulsion to stay is that we need to give the iraqis the ability to rule themselves, that is the rhetoric anyway, without getting into proxy governments or oil or money for reconstruction etc etc. But the insurgents are targeting the fledgling iraqi security forces anyway, and they are not being protected even with the US there in full force. How many massacres have been carried out with impunity on iraqi police? the problem is, the fact that they ARE being trained by the US makes them targets. It is a circular argument. something has to be done to break the cycle, work smarter not harder.

How many died when we invaded and who was responsible then? Seriously, do you honestly care ? How many are dieing today in random suicide bombings, ethnic killing and other war related events ? How many are already dead due to the civil war we touched off when we created a political vacuum ? How many leaders have been targeted, mosques blown up or made the target of assassins ? This is about Mr. Bush and his war. A majority of Americans now feel its not worth the cost in lives or treasure. He and his supporters ought to be held accountable for all of this.
The answer is some and an unknown number at that.
What was the underlying point to your question if there was one ?

Well the liberal plan, is to force Bush to withdraw all the troops, then blame the resulting genocide on Bush.

And whoever it was that said that America put Saddam in power.

please explain just how America put Saddam in power in Iraq, when Iraq was a Soviet Client State in 1979.

When America didn't even have diplomatic relations with Iraq until 1983.

You remember, the pictures of Rumsfield shaking Saddam's hand the left just love to point at. Well they were taken in 1983, when Rumsfield went to Iraq to open diplomatic relations between America and Iraq.

No more than now. Only difference being they will be dying for a cause, to help determine the power balance in Iraq, not for American control of oil.

The deaths will probably be similar to what happens now, and the killers as well as the United States government are responsible since they created this mess.
