There is still quite a huge selection of pet food on the shelves that are NOT affected by the recall - both wet and dry. These brands are not manufactured by Menufoods. For cats, there's Friskies, Whiskas, Fancy Feast, Castor and Pollux, Innova, Wellness, Natural Balance, Nature's Recipe, Felidae... quite a lot. I got my cats Natural Balance in cans and Castor and Pollux UltraMix dry Saturday morning and turned in my stock of IAMS and Eukenuba (fortunately not in the tainted batch - but I just want to be safe than sorry).

You can feed them a BARF (Biologically appropriate raw food) diet that you can make yourself at home or one of the other brands which haven't been recalled. It seems to have only been wet foods that are affected, the dry foods are fine to use. Dogs can eat dry all the time, it can increase the likelihood of cats getting urinary tract disease, but many cats live happily and healthily for years on dry food.

We feed Merrick canned foods and just switched to Merrick kibble as well. This brand seems not to have been affected by the recall as the company claims all their products are manufactured in the USA (the affected plant in this recall case is in Canada).

By the way, supposedly NO dry foods (kibble) have been affected so you should be OK with those no matter what the brand is.
