Is getting drunk different for everyone? For example, when i got drunk I didn't throw up and I didn't have a hangover, and I had at least four or five beers.

When my boyfriend got drunk, he threw up and had a hangover and he only had two or three shots of something.

Is it just different for different people?

It depends on numerous factors:
1) Your weight: if you're a bigger person, it will take more alcohol to get you drunk.
2) Your gender: a woman's blood alcohol content raises faster than a man's.
3) What you've eaten that day: If you haven't eaten anything in many hours before drinking, you will feel the effects of the alcohol much quicker.
4) What you're drinking over time: Note that the body is constantly metabolizing alcohol as you drink it. Thus, if you had your four or five beers over a few hours, it would not have a very great effect on your body, while if your boyfriend knocked back two shots right after each other he'd feel the alcohol in one compact punch.
5) Proof of alcohol: Note the proof of the alcohol you're drinking. (Proof is the percentage times two.) Beer usually has at the most ten or fifteen proof, while shots range from eighty to 150 to even more.
In any case, don't drive when you're drinking.

I'm always amazed at all the people who just automatically become judgmental about drinking, and drinkers, instead of just answering a person's question. Did you ask about alcoholism? No. Did you ask about how you and your boyfriend should spend your time together? No. But of course you got those kinds of answers. Yes, it's different for different people. People have different tolerance levels. It also makes a difference if a person is drinking something soft, like beer, or "shots," which are presumably hard liquor. At the same time, some people get completely smashed on a few beers, while others could drink a bottle of sour mash whiskey and not be that drunk. And if one or the other has an empty stomach, chances are it will affect how drunk that person becomes. It all depends on the person.

yes it is very different for different people. It also depends on your tolerance, food you have just eaten before drinking as well. Some people can get drunk on a glass of wine and have hangover and others will need at least 7 pints of beer.

It depends on how fast and how much alcohol get into your system at once. Beer will absorb more slowly because it has such a high water to alcohol content. Shots are concentrated and hit him all at once. The body reacts to the poison by trying to get rid of it when there's too much to process. Did you know that if you're on your period your ability to absorb alcohol drops dramatically? Good thing to know.

Yes, everybodys tolerance and reactions to liquor differ a lot. Perhaps you and your boyfriend should not drink as much so you two can actually enjoy the morning after spending time with each other instead of sharing time with the toilet.

Yes, everyone reacts differently to alcohol and even different types of drinks.

Also, it depends on your body weight and what you had to eat before and during the time you were drinking and how fast you drank.

It is different for everyone. You base some on body weight. On family and experience. Some people like others don't. I don't like the taste. So I don't.
