So a look, it's like this...... Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Shyness is a wicked thing and I understand that perhaps it's hard for some people to make a move. But if you are brave enough to ask US then I believe you're brave enough to approach him. I think maybe since it's a theatre class you could ask him to rehearse some lines with you. Or go over and compliment him on his "acting". That would be a great opening connection to get to know him better. And it doesn't always have to be because you are looking for a relationship, but the friendship part might be a nice start. Good Luck.

your best bet is to try and make small talk with him. i know this sounds scary, but you need to give yourself the chance to feel out the situation. i have never been shy a day in my life, so i can't really empathize with you, BUT i have taken it upon myself to read up on tips for shy people over the years.

#1) remember that the guy u like is JUST another person. he has feelings, fears, emotions, and desires just as you do.

#2) think about what you want to say to him before you speak.

#3) try to approach him when no one is around or paying attention to the two of you. It will be easier to speak to him, if you are not worrying about others hearing you.

#4) ask your teacher if the next time you have to do a partnered exercise or assignment, if he/she will pair you up with that guy.

#5) once you are forced to speak with him about non-emotional things like schoolwork, it will be easier to overcome your fear of talking to him about other things, especially if he has to come to your house to study or work with you.

#6) the more you talk to him, the easier it will be to feel him out, and see if you two have things in common. for example, if you like Metallica, and found out he does too, then maybe you could get some other friends together and go see a Metallica concert.

#7) ask him what clubs he's in, and see if you can join too!

I promise once you get over the initial hurdle of talking to him about general things, it will be easier to get to know him, and form a friendship. Once you see that he is just another person, it will be easier to get over being shy with him.

i hope this helped you, and good luck!

find a comfortable way to hang out with him. Maybe ask to study together or just whine about or praise the class.
