The quality of the camp itself is second to the quality of the counselors and activities. Kids go to camp to have fun, so camp should be fun! Days should be filled with little "free time" (aka boredom) and lots of flexibility. Field trips, crafts, campfires, games, sports and nature activities should all be available to your child. Also, there should always be an "alternative" activity should your child not feel comfortable with a given activity. Make sure the healthcare provider on site is certified as well, she will be more useful than you think! YMCAs tend to hold good camps, as well as sports-specific camps. Ask parents in your neighborhood or child's school for recommendations as well.

Good luck and have fun!

Quality although important is second to activities. Activities are what the children will remember. Also having friends along.
