Does anyone know how much it cost to get an I-551 stamp in your passport? My husband already started paperwork for his 10 year green card in September, but now we are traveling in July and dont think we will have the green card in time so we are going to get a stamp in his passport. So anyone have an idea how much it cost? Do we have to fill out any forms before we meet the immigration officer?

Thanks!

There is no fee to get the stamp. Based on what you stated, I assume he is already a permanent resident. Although it is possible to travel without the I-551, to avoid hassle I would get it prior to departure.

You will want to make an appointment with your local USCIS office via www.infopass.uscis.gov. He needs to have evidence that he is already a permanent resident and has filed for his 10 year green card.

I don't think there is any cost involved. You would simply need to make an infopass appointment at your local USCIS office, bring documentation of having filed to remove conditions and your trip details and they should give the temporary stamp.

However, you should have received an extension letter for the conditional greencard in the mail within a month or so of filing to remove conditions. This letter is all you would need to show Permanent Residency when travelling.
