Do you talk to the person next to you on the airplane or do you hide behind a book or headphones or what? Why not?

I'm not a very social person (in fact I think I could be anti-social) and I'm not great on planes either.
So, I try to sleep the entire flight.
Then, I don't fret over being a mile above the earth's surface or have to worry whether or not the pilot's wife asked him for a divorce the previous evening!

Usually I don't talk to anyone on planes, trains or busses. I'll be reading not because I am 'hiding behind a book' but just because I love reading! I read several books a week, sometimes a book a day, I love reading much better than chatting with strangers.

The times I traveled alone I either stared out the window while listening to my music or read. Sometimes I did talk to the person sitting next to me only when they initiated the conversation, because I don't want to bother people.

To my memory, I have never been on a plane. But if I was, then I would talk based off of several things. If I was feeling anti-social, then I would ignore them. If I was in a good mood, or I found them interesting, then I would strike up a conversation.

I hide behind my book, or have my mp3 player blastin' in my ear. I don't like to be bothered. I'd rather not deal with having to hear someone's whole life story.
No thx.

It depends on how long the flight is. If it is a short flight I will talk. But if it is a long flight I don't because I might not care for that person and don't want to have to listen to them the whole flight.

sometimes. If they are just sitting there. If they are into a book or something I don't. But, if we are both sitting there, I might spark up a little conversation just to make the time pass.

Don't talk to them. They might want to be left alone. Read a book or listen to music.

I usually talk a bit.
Depends upon how I react to the person too.
