Sounds like a possible power supply problem... has there been any black outs or brown outs since you've had the PC. Damage can happen over time and it possibly took until now before you started to see issues with it. Power supplies are not expensive and can be easily replace. Just take the specs. of your mother board and case with you to your nearest PC store so they know what kind of power supply you need. If possible remove your power supply and take it with you. Worst case you will have a new power supply which always come in handy now days. Also check your bios battery, while your at it. It could be time to replace that as well. But remember if you remove the battery, it will blank out your bios causing you to have to reset it so if you can take down notes on your bios setting before removing the battery to test it and or replace it. That's all i have for now I hope these work for you. Also it doesn't hurt that if you can stay logged into your PC long enough even if you have to go to safe mode try removing the photo you scanned or the email program with add and remove programs. And a even better choice if you have Windows XP when you log into safe mode try restoring your system to a later date before the first crash and see if that helps your system before buying a new battery. Good luck.. I hope everything works out.

Hmm I had this problem with my newly built PC (built myself) and the reason was because I had plugged one of my case fans into an incorrect place on my motherboard. The case fan wouldn't run, so the computer read the rpm's as 0 rpm, and this tricked the BIOS into thinking that the computer was in critical condition, thus shutting the computer off to prevent frying components. Check to see if all your case fans are running! This can be done by using a small piece of paper and putting it up against the fans. If the problem persists, It may be a faulty piece of hardware. Usually, computers will exhibit this behavior if the CPU is overheating or something. Hope my answer helps you :(

Well I'm a computer technician and it sounds like a bad power supply to me. Normally in cases like this people just make honest mistakes of not checking power or something little like that, thought it could very well be a problem with your hard drive, or maybe your computer got infected with a virus. I had someone in the other day and just because they were simply on the Internet and pasting photos onto an Internet site, a virus sought them out and infected their whole hard drive. I suggest taking it into you local computer technician. Hope I helped.

Hello,
The first thing to do to speed up pc and get rid of malwares and viruses is cleaning the registry with a program like CCLeaner http://bit.ly/UrArJo
It's a very simple and nice software.
Good Bye

Go to the Administrative Tools under the Control Panel. Look for the Event Viewer. There you will probably find an error code that will help diagnose the problem.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
