September is the best. The weather is still great for traveling and you will be avoiding the vacation crowds and high travel rates of June-August and December.

Best time to go is when you can go.....
April is spring break but I've cruised then, too. It rained. October was nice, but a hurricane forced alot of ships into our port, so it was crowded. May is a little quieter but closer to hurricane season.
So make your decision on availability, rate, and ship. Then just go. If there is a hurricane you may see a different itinerary. If you want a great deal, go the end of November, first 2 weeks of December or mid-January to February. Weather is mild, rates are wonderful, and ships aren't full.

The Caribbean is great any time except hurricane season which starts in July and runs through the end of October. Its great weather all other times. But If you plan to go no further than the Bahamas it can be rather cool on/at the beach in December, January and February; its more pleasant further south like Puerto Rica and St Thomas.
You can expect rain showers most any time of year in the Caribbean but they are generally brief and don't stop activities. Its the hurricanes that WILL stop everything and should be your primary concern.

Go end of April after Spring Break and before middle of May before kids get out of school and summer families start traveling. The weather is better then as in November, it is end of hurricane season and may rain a bit. Severe hurricanes are usually over in November and only have tropical storms, if any. Temperaturewise, it will be about the same any of those months.

I went last November the week before Thanksgiving. It rained a little while we were in Cozumel but not much. Nice and warm at about 86 degrees though. Better weather than back home where it was snowing at the time!

I would say May.
That is before Hurricane season and is when prices drop a bit.
