Prop your head up with one hand , make sure you have either paper in front of you with a pen or pencil in your hand or a book you can look like you are reading.

Try and make sure your hair in front of your face to block your eyes that are closed.

Trust me, I have done this before. Gotten about a half hour sleep before I really had to get up and do work.

Don't worry about it. I read in a news article, about a year ago, that a man died at his desk and was there for 3 days before anyone noticed.

You see the trick is not to snore or breath funny :) Actually, he was not too social and his computer monitor was turned outward so he always faced the cubicle wall.

I'd go with Cathy's suggestion. I've done that, too.

Works best if you are wearing a baseball cap. Make it a habit to wear one at work. Tell everybody it's your 'thinking cap', and when you don it, that means you're thinking very hard.

Of course sleeping at work can be regarded as violation of company policy. But if you can't help it, it's better to take a 15-minute nap rather than risk making mistakes because you're too drowsy to work.

Cut a ping pong ball in half, and draw eyes on each half. Just stick them on over your closed eyes. If you run your Magic Marker all over the insides of them, they'll also block out light, helping you sleep more soundly.

Or, wear all black, with a black veil. Just drop the veil over your head and sleep away. Others will assume you are praying for a deceased loved one and leave you alone. Don't use this one too often though unless it's known you're from a really big family.

(additional -added next day):
When nobody's looking, quietly tip over a file cabinet (pick one that's light enough to tip by yourself) or bookcase. Then lay down beside it and get your nap. Sleep as long as you like. When somebody finds you there and wakes you, say the blasted cabinet tipped and knocked you out. This one too, isn't effective if used often.

A simple, much-used tactic is to just go sit in the restroom, put your head in your hands and elbows on your knees, and sleep away. It's good for 10-15 minutes before somebody gets suspicious.

Cathy's suggestion has always worked for me. You could also try laying on the ground and scatter paperclips and around your hands and head. Sleep there and when someone wakes you up just pretend you were picking the paperclips off the ground. =)

Do not hide!

Convince them that as there is hypnotherapy, so there is hypnofunctioning. Tell them that recent research states that whenever we take a siesta of about 15minutes in the office, we become more effective. While you take your siesta, great ideas about how to handle your job's issues, pop up.

Tell them to do the same too.!!

And when they do, let me know where this office is because I am looking for a job suitable to my sleep pattern!

Sleep tight!

You do realize, of course, that sleeping on the job is tantamount to stealing? There is absolutely no justification for this. Sleep on your own time. When you're at work, you are getting paid. Who gets paid for sleeping?

Get your eyelids tattooed to look like open eyes.

I used to just go into a stall in the bathroom and put my feet up on the wall and take a nap.
