I want to get a gun soon but I only have enough money for one and I cant decide if I want to get a pistol or a AK type rifle. Pistol would be cheaper and easier to get since I could get it at my local gun store, but if there is going to be a new ban I might go for the AK. What do you think?

krulos,

H.R. 1022 was introduced to the Senate to be voted on later this year...it's purpose is to re-enact the Assault Weapons Ban that (we all thought) faded into obscurity in 2004.

Here is the link so you can read the particulars:

Folks...please write your Senators and let them know what you think about this. Needless to say, I already have.

To answer your question, I cannot say for sure if this new bill will be successful. I certainly hope not, but it seems that (most of) the country lost it's collective mind last November. I think I would consider purchasing any high capacity weapon, and spare mags...

I am not too worried about a new gun ban. Many of the Democrats that were elected are not anti gun. I'd go for the handgun first. There are so many of the AK guns floating around out there, you'll be able to get one without too much trouble later on.

The way things are going now... go ahead and buy your guns now before they draft a new ban. Although I beleive the large political swing is a result of the unpopular war, I think the left will a bit "trigger-happy" at attempting to implement all of their favorite ways of blatantly disgreguarding our constitutional rights.

So hope for best, but prepare for the worst. That's what I'm doing.
