I don't really like my girlfriend's friends. She comes from quite a different background than me, and I simply don't have much to talk about with them. I don't like small-talk or vapid conversation, just for the sake of having it. She goes to her parties, and I would just as soon avoid them because they are not fun for me. I don't force my friends on her, and they would never give me hell about her not being around. I can be comfortable having different sets of friends, but she can't. What should I do?

Note: We've been together 2 years and are otherwise happy with each other.

You don't have to like them. But if you want to stay with your girlfriend, you'd better learn to pretend you do.
She will dump you sooner or later if you don't like her friends. A woman will NEVER pick a guy over her friends.
If you don't believe me, that's okay. Good luck with the next one.

If she expects you to hang with her friends shouldn't you expect her to do the same with yours?
