Why do people from other religions tend to put mine down? Why are they telling me that I am going to hell if I don't believe in a certain savior? Why must people boast their religion onto me when all I want to do is take my dog for a walk? Why cant I be left along with my own beliefs? Why cant people let other people think for themselves and stop recruiting? WHY?????

Extremely good question! i have to remind myself to star this! Well look at it this way! People are trying to save you. And really... you don't need to be saved. Every religion has holes in it and every religion has it's dirty laundry. Yours is no different. What every religion has in common is hope and try pointing that out. I found that i was constantly attacked for my beliefs in atheism and do you know what i did? I figured if they really wanted to start this then i'll return it. I did a little research on the religions that frequently attacked my doorstep and in my case... it was mormons. Now honestly... that religion is FULL of holes and point a few out to a wandering missionary.... i made him cry. Like AMAZING! Just tell people: "This is what i believe! Believe whatever you want be it some almighty god or some human sacrifice, it's fine with me! Just leave my religion alone." Chances are... they'll leave you be.

Hear O Israel, the Lord our God...

Israel (Jacob) and his descendants made a covenant with God. Did I get this right? 613 Commandments. Binding only on Jews. Jews stop recruiting because of Herod.

Jesus asked his disciples to teach all nations. This does not mean everyone will believe the message. If you have heard the message, the Christian job is done.

I will not bother to go into Judaism place in Christianity.

If the Jewish Roman War did not destroyed the temple, Christianity might just be another sect in Judaism who members believed Rabbi Joshua (Jesus) was the Messiah.

One last comment: Your beliefs are your own. Make sure you know them. When asked what your think, really and interesting are neutral words, use them.

It sounds like you're asking two different questions - one about the persecution of the Jewish people and the other about proselytizing Christians.

The first question obviously requires a long and thorough answer which I'm sure you are already familiar with.

Regarding those who want to convert you, why do you care what they think or believe? Sure they're disrespectful of your faith - and every other faith but their own. They also don't think very highly of science and reason.

If they anger you, why not have fun with them? Most of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and others who come to my door on Sunday mornings only have a passing familiarity with issues of history and science. So school them.

Or just go nuts and tell them that Satan is your lord and master. Get all googly-eyed on them and ask for directions to the local elementary school or playground. Then run like hell.

What makes you feel so special? Everyone here gets attacked for their beliefs here. Have you not been paying attention? Have you not seen the on-going circular battle between Theists and Atheists, Catholics against the fundamentalist Christians, the trolls and the rational people? If your religion was left alone, you would be the freak in this crowd.
Be proud of what you believe in and don't take too personally the short-sighted twits who think they are holier than you.

Each person puts a lot of thought into his/her spiritual and/or religious beliefs. Most are very sure that they have it right. Some of them are not shy about making sure that the rest of the world gets rescued from the wrong path. But when challenged about their religion, they can easily feel that their intelligence is being insulted for the very reasons given in my 1st & 2nd sentence. And this results in hostile confrontations.

Heaven help those that look different for their religion because it makes them a walking talking target for confrontational people.

I think it's wrong that those things happen to you. As a Christian I am aware that we owe a lot to the Jews. They wrote the bible. The early Christians were Jews and spread the Gospel to the gentiles. We wouldn't know about Jesus if it were not for Jews. Peter and All the disciples were Jews. Paul was a Jew. And yes, of course so was Jesus. If any group of people should NOT be anti-Semitic, it is Christians. May you have peace and may God bless you. I hope I speak for many Christians.

I wouldn't be one to argue with you, unless you asked different questions. Some people just don't want to come to God. Or in your case ( which is why I'm having trouble adjusting to your question) , you aren't wanting to learn about the Messiah Jesus.

So okay. From me you don't get the witness and testimony. . . unless you ask.

Some people are stuck on one gear. They only know one thing, and if that thing is the Gospel, I mean really knowing the Gospel, that's pretty good. But they use no discernment. So they are sayig loads about how spiritual they are by not applying any discernment as to who they bring the word to, and who they don't.

From the framework of your question, I'm going to assume that people who purport themselves to be Christians such as Jehovah's Witness and Mormons are bugging you on the street. That's their job, their church (both of whom are viewed as not EXACTLY Christian) puts a lot of pressure on them to witness and bring people in. This is also the mark of a cult.

Now, as an orthodox born again Christian, I can tell you that if you have any friends like 'us', part of what Jesus told His disciples is to proclaim the 'good news' which is also known as the 'gospel'. And that news is that YOU don't have to jump through hoops to get to Heaven and be Saved: in the Old Testament, God required a blood sacrifice for the atonement of sins. In the New Testament, Jesus gives himself as the blood sacrifice for all of mankind, so that we don't have to, and that is because God loves us.

Shorter version (I know, too late!): some churches force their people to do it, others just talk about it normally and do not hate you or anything else if you decide to stick to the religion you were born into. It's your choice and a very personal one. If you have so called Christians beating you over the head with Scripture references, just tell them that if God wants to tell you anything, He'll do it. And you know what? He will!

No one is telling you to stop thinking for yourself. In fact real Christianity is ALL about that, but a lot of people don't realize it. Peter said for us as adults to repent and be baptized; that means we make a conscious decision to turn away from something sinful and never do it again. Sorry if you feel bad about this, don't!

Avoid those kinds of people. I think you just got a concentrated dose of fanatics lately. Where I am I almost never deal with that. If I'm confronted with "recruiters" I close my door immediately without a second thought.
