From Old English "Pharon"> from Latin "Pharaonem"> from Greek "Pharao"> from Hebrew "Par'oh"> from Egyptian "Pero'", litrally: "great house".

My understanding is that Pharaoh is a circumlocution; it's Egyptian for 'the great house'. Sort of like saying "The White House" did this or that.

it's from old-old Greek(time unlimited) pharos=big light.
from verb pharao=2 emit light=wisdom, show the way up!-
