Anytime you "jam" a finger, there is inflammation...so typically, with inflammation comes redness and some warmth to the area!!

I What a coincidence!!!!! i just jammed my finger to and its hot and hurts :'( ouch! I feel your pain :( i guess its all that blood rushing to that spot to heal the finger....

All your blood is rushing to it to fix it up. Your body needs to repair. Blood = heat.
