I found out through his email (he forgot to sign out) that he had been telling another girl that he might plan to break up with me because he loved her. I confronted him and dumped him. He said he was reallllllly sorry and all of that. Sorry that he didn't tell me sooner and the truth. He regrets what he did to me. He also wanted us to stay friends.

Should I be friends with him? I mean he's nice and funny. I can't control who others fall in love with out with. But I'm still hurt.

Although what Heidi said makes sense...if it's just friends i can't see why not. Don't let him forget that he hurt you but better a friend than an enemy. He might be there for you in the future and will help you out when you need it.

you can be friends but if your still hurting, wait a while. let the pain heal & when you have accepted what has happened & learn to live with the choices he made, you'll come around it and frienship will come naturally. My ex 5 years ago is still my friend today.. kinda even know how his relationship goin on..but no strings attached. Once you have come to terms to accept the fact that he has choosen someone else, it would be easier to be friends. True, it hurts bad enough that he didnt choose to be with you, but he has done a favor for you (by letting you know how he feels) so take it positively. Move on without him. Amidst the pain, don't despare. God has a purpose all the time.

You are right. You cannot control who others fall in love with. You are who your friends are.
He was never a friend to begin with so what is there left to hold on to? For the rest of your life You will never think of him without having the memory of what he did to you and the hurt it caused you.
It's not about love it's about being a good person to yourself and others especially those close to you. He was not good to you and he was not good to the other girl either. He was a good two-timer that got caught.
If he really loved the other girl he would have told her in person when the time was right. Instead he did it in a cheap email on a computer obviously not his own. who does that?

Be good to you. Give yourself real opportunities to meet real friends.

Well...is really up to you. But if you want the hurt to go away just don't talk to him until you are "cured". You want him to start using you because of the way you feel about him. I think you should just give it some time b4 you could be his friend.

He can't help who he loves but he CAN help being a liar. I have no idea why you would want him for a friend. He sounds like an immature jerk but if he apologizes it's ok to forgive but be careful ,b/c with friends like him you won't need enemies.

I guess it depends totally on how you are feeling? Your the only one who can answer that! I think in time people can let the past be in the past and just be friends, but every situation is different.

I wouldn't be friends with him. I guess it's fine after a while when you feel better to say hi and stuff and not to completely ignore him (ie. to be acquaintances), but if I were in your situation I would prefer NOT to be friends.

friendships with ex partners usually go the same way as friendships of single people when one gets married and starts a family...they just fade away.

The ultimate betrayal !!! I wouldn't stay friends with him that's for sure. He is just asking to stay friends with you because he doesn't want any enemies. Stay away my advice.
