I work in a salon with about nine other girls and one guy. We ALL talk about each other, we ALL knife each other in the back, we are ALL two faced! We are a franchised salon, and I AM POSITIVE they will just fire us all if we can't find a way to work it out! Salons are typical with this behavior, but we really need help!!! Any thoughts??? Any suggestions on what to say in a meeting? Stylists are a dime a dozen, we fear we will be replaced with a new crew!

I know what it is like to be at a job like that! The last salon I worked at wasn't though. It was a franchised salon too. When I was hired the boss told me, we don't talk about co-workers behind their backs, if you do you will be fired. That is what she told everyone.
Here is my idea: You should all admit your wrong-doing & have the boss institute a new policy and everyone will start with a clean slate. But if people don't follow the policy they are gone.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

if you call a meeting about this... first tell them that you want to keep your job and that you suspect that want to keep theirs. this constant gossiping about each other is only tearing up what should be a unit. and don't think the clients won't or don't notice...they will... and may leave your salon. ask, can't we all jsut be friends and stop this behavior... no talking about another behind their back... no speaking words that you wouldn't say to the person face to face, off salon premises.
you are right, many hair professionals are always looking for jobs... and if your salon's manager/owner has taken notice of this discord among you (how could they not) they may very well get rid of "bad apples" in search of a more united team. which is key to every salon's success. franchised salons have so much coming and going of employees, its sad. if you do go job hunting, and hopefully have your own following, go to a privately owned one next time. the atmosphere is much different and so is the pay and benefits.
I hope this helped! good luck!

time for you guys to band together and admit that you all talk ****.

besides half a hairstylists job is to talk ****. if you bring it up as a joke and keep it lighter you guys can work with each other.

im sure none of you want to lose your jobs!

tell the people in the meeting that you are a very close staff and that at the end of the day you are like brothers and sisters, this dynamic puts clients at ease, when they walk into the salon they feel like they are part of a family and that they can get input from all the stylists. you have to say you help each other out and that the dynamic in the salon is amazing. its a very easy situation to lie and bs a little! heehee.
hope you dont lose your job honey you sound very worried about it. but i promise, if you guys can present a TEAM to the people they will be happy to keep you.. you have to show them how you benefit the salon. its all about the clients baby!
