They are very similar and are both narcotic drugs used to manage severe pain. They need to managed by a professional as they can be addictive, and there is a danger of overdosing.

It is NOT the same as oxycontin. Oxycontin is time release oxycodone, the same ingredient in Percocet. MS contin is time release morphine sulfate. I have been prescribed both of them and you should not take them unless there is a very good medical reason to do so. The withdrawal from both these drugs is mighty tough.

Absolutely not Oxycontin is in the same family of drugs known as Opiates..The drug Oxycontin is made from a medication called oxycodone but in a time release form..you can get it in a non time release form called Oxycodone..or you can get it with tylenol in it and that one is called Oxycocet or "Percocet"
the word "CONTIN" just means that the pill is a time release opiate usually 12 hours between dosage.MS Contin is "Morphine Sulfate" and they come in different dosage from 15 mlg all the way to 400mlg..

The two medications are NOT the same...MS Contin is long acting morphine sulphate..I do not recommend biting down on the medication as you will completely lose the effect of what the doctor prescribed it to do..It is NOT Oxy..they are both opiates...I assume you are a pain managment patient...hopefully...

MS stands for Morphine Sulfate and is very addicting very quickly. Usually is only given to terminally ill because of addiction. Also can cause respiratory depression(breathe too slow) and drop your heart rate.
