So in less than one year my dad has already had 3 speeding tickets. This most recent one was from a crooked cop. He was only going 73 but the cop jot him down for 78. What can we do? And is that enough points to get his license suspended?

Maybe your dad shouldn't be driving. He sounds like a menace.

Generally (without knowing what state you live in or how many points are already off the license) he will have to likely take a mandatory class/written test to maintain his license. Secondly, you say the cop was crooked, however may I point out that if your dad was not blatantly speeding in the first place, this ticket wouldn't likely be an issue right now. I'd recommend slowing it down now, as I realize he may not agree with the speed limit, speeding does not help you save money or points off your license.

Can you prove he was going 73 and not 78?

Given your father's recent history of citations, it's unlikely any reasonable person would take his word over that of the cop's. Especially when you accuse the cop of being "crooked" but do not offer anything to substantiate that claim.

I live in NJ(where it sucks just to breathe), 3 speeding tickets in less than one year is enough to get you suspended! Have his speedometer calibrated from a garage you trust. Keep the report. Let the judge know that his speedometer is correct, this may help. Get your father a lawyer, if nothing else, he can talk to the prosecutor and have the charges dropped down if you decide to dispute it. 3 in less than one year is kinda bad for your Dad in ANY state!

Your dad should be off the road and on his bike! Want to know the way to avoid a speeding ticket? Simple - don't speed!

California says it all. Every time I get a ticket I demand to see their radar gun. I also ask when it was last calabrated.
