You could try applying for assistance. SSI and SSDI can help you out financially and Medicare and Medicaid can help with medical bills. I would try that. Especially if you are unemployed or work part time and make less then the poverty line.

Dont care if I lose points for this. SOME ONE SLAP THAT "GROWIN OLDER" PERSON A LITTLE HIGHER UP THE PAGE.
Bipolar is a chemical imbalance, like diabetes. A simple case of the body producing incorrect ammounts of a chemical that is required in precise ammounts for the body/mind to operate correctly.
Would you tell a diabetic about to lose a limb due to diabetes related gangrene or slip into a coma that theres "no such thing"? Its utterly the STUIDEST thing I have heard.
I live with someone who has bipolar. It is a DISEASE and it is an extremely challenging and often painful one to live with.
An appology is in order from that person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To answer the question:
I dont live in America so I dont know of any numbers...sorry.
Remember that this disease is NOT a weakness nor is it your fault. You cannot control the chemicals your body releases, but you ARE capable of choosing to react to this and making decisions on how to help yourself and make the best out of your life.
It is incredibly hard but one of the best ways you can deal with bipolar within yourself (meaning as well as additional meds/therapy required) is to analyze your actions and feelings. Identifying whether the way you feel and the actions you are considering are a result of YOU or the bipolar will help you stay in control (this can take years of practice and still not be perfect but it helps).
Identify those in your life you will support you and not be a negative influence and stick with them.
Ignore day to day negative factors, they dont matter.
Keep busy and be organised. Inactivity and confusion will add un-need stress and deression.
KNOW that in getting this far, however far that may and by acknowleging you have proved that you are strong enouggh to deal with this.
Good luck

Bi Polar is a real challenge and requires medication in most cases. You need to make that 2 hour trip to get the help you need.
I have suffered many years undiagnosed and have been trying to get it in control over the last year and half. I'm doing well now, but it's been a long hard road and it's worse when you need someone to talk to and there isn't anyone. So I offer myself to you if you'd like to chat or e-mail I'd be happy to talk with you.
Here are some good websites in the meantime.

It's tough isn't it? Bad things do happen to good folk though. I think that it would be wise to take the 2 hour drive maybe every other week just to get things under control and on an even keel.

If you think that you have OCD, you should seek the help of a mental health professional. Family physicians, clinics, and health maintenance organizations may be able to provide treatment or make referrals to mental health centers and specialists. Also, the department of psychiatry at a major medical center or the department of psychology at a university may have specialists who are knowledgeable about the treatment of OCD and are able to provide therapy or recommend another doctor in the area.

I don't know of any specifically, but you might run a search for one. Try "free online therapy". I wish I could help you far more than this. Perhaps another responder will offer a better solution...I hope so.

Check out this website:
www.healthplace.com - register for the chat site, it may help.
You need to see a therapist, I suggest taking the two hour trip one every two weeks or so (if not more often).
