It largely depends on how much foreign service you have. But for someone who has no FSP points, you make an extra 1900 dollars and change clear of taces every month when in Afghanistan.
Also, all money earned while in Afghanistan is not taxed whatsoever and there is a 3500 dollar airfare allotted for each and every soldier to take almost 3 weeks of vacation during the tour.

I don't know about the Canadian side of things, but I do know that the American forces get paid more than $225 extra a month for being in a combat zone! My husband is currently deployed for the 3rd time, and he averages about $800 extra.

Jesse, it depends on the rank of the officer or enlisted member of the military. It is called an "environmental allowance":
Here is a story of a group that was increasing the rate of supplement for this type of hazardous duty in the Canadian forces:
"Formed in July 2001, the Environmental Allowance Review Team’s mandate is to conduct a review of the different environmental allowances for the CF. These allowances, distinct from pay, are provided to CF members exposed to hazards and/or other environmental stresses above those faced by CF members in their normal daily activities.
The primary environmental allowances are: sea duty allowance, paid for service on-board Canadian naval vessels; submarine allowance, paid for service in Canadian naval submarines; field operations allowance, paid during field training and operations, and aircrew allowance, paid for service as a crew member on-board CF aircraft.
A standard set of 20 factors is being used for a comparative evaluation of the environmental hazards and stresses associated with the various allowances. Over the past four years, the team has experienced and evaluated the conditions on-board naval vessels, with the army during field training, and in various CF aircraft.
“We were tasked to come to Kabul to score the hardship and risk of deployed operations compared to the environmental allowances,” said Major Martin Pesant a pilot with 438 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, St-Hubert, Quebec, and one of the officers on the Environmental Allowance Review Team.
You could probably get this information in general from the Canadian Forces. It would be a scale depending on rank and location.

A member assigned to or deployed to a combat zone receives "combat pay" (officially called "immiment danger pay") at the rate of $225.00 per month.
Not $800 extra...it's not worth it at all, my bf was in Iraq for 13 months.

It depends on your time in service and pay grade for your base pay. See the link below for that.
A member assigned to or deployed to a combat zone receives "combat pay" (officially called "immiment danger pay") at the rate of $225.00 per month. AFAIK that is the same for everyone.
