Jesus had to become a man in order to pay the penalty for our sins,

so He knows what it is like to be a person,

and part of your awnser lies in the trinity, which is another complicated subject that is still not understood clearly, even today.
A good way I was taught was the trinity is like water,

it has liquid water, ice cubes, and when we boil the water we get a gas, yet it is all water.

Does that make sense to you? 1 Tim. 2:5 says: "“There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all—this is what is to be witnessed to at its own particular times.”

If Jesus is the mediator BETWEEN God and men, how could he then be God?

He was called "the Son of God" because he's the "voice" of God to man. On the other hand, he was also called "the Son of man" because he's likewise "the voice of man" to God. That's why the Bible calls him the "Mediator between God and man". In simple layman's term - a "bridge" that goes bothways.

God bless you...
