sorry, you are going to have to get on the antibiotics. once you realize you have a uti it's too late to start the home remedies. if you wait too long the infection can spread to your kidneys and cause serious damage. for future reference you can drink a lot of cranberry juice (straight not the cranapple kind) before or right after you do somthing you know causes you to get the uti's (sex, baths, etc). and i do mean alot, drink it until you are sick of it. this changes the ph of your urine to undesirable levels for the bacteria. also lean forward after you finish urinating to push the last bit of urine out and completely empy your baldder.
the reason antibiotics are not over the counter is beacuse of a lilttle bug called MRSA or methacillian resistant staph. aureus. this lil bug has caused serious harm in the medical field beacuse it is a bug that has become resistant to most antibiotcs. the reason for this is beacuse of the prevalent use of antibiotics in society. there are now other bugs becoming resistant to antibiotics and as you can imagine if we started selling them over the counter this problem could get well out of hand....tho it probably will anyway. hope this helps.

They should make antibiotics for at least UTI. Now you have to waste your time, get an appointment with a doctor, pay couple hundred dollars for an office visit, just to get a prescription for antibiotics. But you have to do it, cause it will not go away on its own. And Cranberry juice will not work. Cranberry juice is for the prevention of UTI.

I know the feeling! You will still need to get an anitbiotic b/c if you don't then the infection will not go away and it will continue to get worse. One time I waited 2 weeks before going to the doctor and the she was shocked when I told her that. She told me to make an appointment as soon as I had symptoms. If I can't go right away I drink lots of water and cran-grape juice (you can drink cranberry if you like it, but I don't). Also, there are AZO tablets that help with the pain, it turns your pee bright orange, but it helps. But you still have to get antibiotics. Good Luck! And hope you feel better soon! (And they do need to make it over the counter!)

UTI-Urinary tract Infection is always a serious problem and should be treated immediately. Urine examination as well as urine culture should also be done . Then it should be treated accordingly since the infective organisms easily become immune to antibiotics. Moreover there will be ascending infection to bladder, ureters ,kidneys etc. If you are sure with symptoms of UTI immediately consult the doctor and take appropriate treatment.

1. Keep drinking water
2. Get a tube of frozen cranberry juice and only dilute it a little bit...drink up!
3. Visualize the bacteria dying (Helps me a little)
4. If it gets worse after a couple days, go to the doctor.

I didn't and ended up in so much pain because I got a kidney infection! Oh, it was way more terrible. I had to go to the emergency room and that's where a nurse told me the tip about the frozen cranberry juice. I hope you get better!

You need antibiotics to take care of a UTI. You cannot cure it yourself. If you don't get it treated you could wind up having it go to your kidneys or your bloodstream and end up in the hospital. The reason they don't let you get antibiotics without a script for this is because unless you could culture your own urine how would you know which antibiotic to take to get rid of what bug is causing your UTI? Go see the doc and get this treated properly.

there are actually antibiotics for UTI, but you need your doctor to prescribe them first. taking antibiotics, you see, requires you to take it at a certain time, for a certain duration and for a certain number. you might also not be allowed to expose to the sun too much because of hpotosensitivity...things like that. you need to be real meticulous when taking them.
you may try drinking coconut juice or some cranberry juice or prune juice. you should also increase your fluids. hope i helped!

As long as you aren't too infected, they usually pass with uristat and water. They don't make antibiotics over the counter for two reasons...one, the more you take them, the more of a resistence you have, and two, and more importantly, a lot of people have deadly allergies to antiboitics and don't know it.

Because antibiotics can be taken wrong. If you fail to take the complete dosage as recommended, bacteria can become immune to them and people need to be educated about this by a doctor before taking them. Why are you worrying about this so much is what I'm wondering?
