Scotch is Johnny Red or Black. Tequilla does not matter. All that Mexican drek is garbage that will rot your undergraduate stomach.

As for scotch some popular brands include Dewar's, J & B, and Johnnie Walker. Where they are produced varies. Johnnie Walker has different varieties itself, Red Label, Black Label, and Blue Label, Blue Label is the most expensive, and best quality.
Some common tequilas are Jose Cuervo, Cabo Wabo, Patron, and Don Julio. To be classified as a tequila, it must be made in the Tequila region of Mexico. If it is not from that region, it is a mezcal liquor. It can also be classified according to how long it has been aged, silver, gold, reposado, anejo, and extra anejo. The longer it's been aged, the smoother the flavor. Most brands of tequila have and anejo version, which are higher quality and more expensive.

Tequila has a denomination of origin which means that it has to be produced in a certain area, this are being Jalisco and parts of other 4 states in Mexico. Tequila is made with blue agave tequilna weber, 100% blue agave tequila has to be bottled in this area but 51/49 or what many people call mixto can be sold as bulk tequila and bottle wherever... Mixto has 49% sugars from other sources that are not blue agave.
How can you tell if it is a mixto or not, look at the label if it dose not say 100% agave or 100% agave azul it is a mixto.

For Scotch: There are a lot. Chivas Regal is decent. I like Glenmorangie (Port wood Finish). Johnny Walker is good.
Tequila: Standbys: Sauza, Jose Cuervo. Better: Tres Generacions

You can only call it scotch if it comes from scotland otherwise you should call it whisky. Same as sherry, unless it is from Spain you have to call it fortified wine
